Excited to be capturing the action at the Frozen Fury on the Plains Bronc Futurity

03rd February 2026
I'm excited to finally be getting back in the dirt this coming Saturday for the Frozen Fury on the Plains Bronc Futurity at the Archer Complex here in Cheyenne. The folks at Pine Bluffs Distilling along with Hell on Wheels Rodeo Company, Visit Cheyenne, and Laramie County Events have been presenting this futurity for several years and it continues to grow in popularity.

I’m even more excited that I’ll be capturing the action with some new technology from Santa, and while I won’t get all nerdy in this space, I will say that I never really thought I would make the leap to a mirrorless camera because I’m really attached to my DSLR cameras. Nonetheless, I’ll be learning some new tech as the action happens – good times for sure!

Back to the action – the Frozen Fury on the Plains is a high-energy, fast-paced evening of young bronc riding action with $4,000 added to each side and 100% payback on each side. Twenty-four bronc riders test their mettle aboard young bucking horses that need some experience in a competitive environment.

So, if you're wondering – what is a futurity? A futurity is made up of young bucking stock, usually 4 & 5 year olds, that need an opportunity to buck in a competitive environment to enhance their growth through some “real” experience, and it allows stock contractors to evaluate their young stock. The same goes for the cowboys – they will all be non-PRCA contestants, PRCA permit holders, and PRCA rookies.

I'll share all the images on the 3HRodeo.com website as well as in my upcoming 3H Rodeo blog post on the Wyoming Lifestyle Magazine blog coming in the next week or two.

Come out to see the future of rodeo on display. They start bucking at 6pm on February 7th at The Event Center at Archer - just east of Cheyenne right off of I-80. Look forward to seeing you out there.
